SA Business Lens is committed to clear, credible and current journalism for South African readers. This policy explains how we select, verify, write and update our reporting.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to publish information that is accurate, fair and supported by reliable evidence. Important facts, figures, dates and quotations are checked against primary documents or credible independent sources wherever possible. When information cannot be independently confirmed, we clearly attribute it and explain any relevant uncertainty.
Our sources
We prioritise primary sources such as legislation, court documents, company announcements, regulatory notices, official statistics, public records, interviews and direct responses from the organisations concerned. We may also use reputable news agencies, research institutions and specialist publications. Articles should identify or link to their principal sources whenever practical.
Fairness and context
We distinguish fact from opinion and avoid presenting allegations as established facts. Where reporting may materially affect a person or organisation, we seek relevant context and, when appropriate, an opportunity to respond. Headlines and social-media posts should accurately reflect the substance of the article.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made in the interests of readers. Advertising, sponsorship and commercial relationships do not determine our news conclusions. Paid or sponsored material will be labelled clearly. We disclose significant conflicts of interest when they are relevant to a story.
Use of modern digital tools
SA Business Lens uses modern digital tools to support research organisation, transcription, narration, image preparation, editing and publishing. Every published article remains subject to human editorial review, verification and approval. SA Business Lens accepts responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of its published journalism.
Images and audio
Images may be photographs, supplied material, editorial graphics or clearly contextual illustrations. Captions and alternative text should not misrepresent what an image shows. Audio editions are produced from our written reporting and may use synthetic narration; the underlying article remains the authoritative version if a discrepancy occurs.
Updates and corrections
News develops. We may update an article as new verified information becomes available. Material errors are corrected promptly and transparently in line with our Corrections and Complaints Policy.
