A section of the R300 towards Mitchells Plain was reported closed on Thursday morning. The report remains unconfirmed by an official source available to SA Business Lens.

Cape Town ETC reported at 09:14 SAST on 29 October that the road was closed from the N2 towards Mitchells Plain following a reported shooting involving a taxi driver.

A Google Maps screenshot supplied to SBL at 09:46 SAST also shows closure markers on the R300 near Weltevreden Valley. It does not establish the cause of the closure or replace confirmation from traffic authorities.

The publication advised motorists to use other routes. SBL has not independently confirmed the current closure status, the precise affected stretch or an official diversion route. Drivers should check current traffic information before setting off and follow instructions from officers on the road.

At the time this draft was prepared, no verified information was available to SBL about injuries, a suspect, the circumstances of the reported shooting or a reopening time. The report should not be read as confirmation of a wider taxi dispute.
